Believers have always lived in a culture that opposes God.
I. The human author - Peter (Mark 1:29-31; 1 Corinthians 9:5; Acts 1:15, 2:14, 3-healing & persecution, 4:13, 15)
II. The identity of the recipients - Exiles (sojourner, stranger, belongs somewhere else) how do we live in this world looking to our home?
III. The location of the recipients - Northern Turkey (Acts 16:6 - Paul wanted to go here but the Spirit of God said, No. Peter sent a letter.)
IV. The beauty of the Gospel
A. The work of the Father - chosen by God to be His - God's sovereign grace and man's responsibility. (Acts 2:22-24)
B. The work of the Son - Hebrews 10 - here to do His Father's will. He did it, and it is done!
C. The work of the Spirit - to take what is dead (Ephesians 2) and make it alive!
V. The blessings of the Gospel (5:12)
VI. The benediction of the Gospel (vs 2 - Grace and Peace, Multiplied)
Next Steps:
> Clearly define the Gospel!
> Confidently depend upon the Gospel!
> Continually draw upon the grace of the Gospel! (2 Peter 1:3-11)
