Bethel "Sowers"

The mission of the Bethel Bible “Sowers” ministry is to share the love of Christ by meeting needs of those both inside and outside of our community. We have been greatly blessed by our church family and others outside the church to provide fabric and supplies.

Recently we learned of an 11 year old girl outside our community who was scheduled for open heart surgery. Though one of our members was acquainted with her dad, we did not meet her personally. However, we felt this would be a perfect opportunity to show encouragement and love.

So we set to making a quilt. We had some quilt tops done and made a choice about which one would best suit an 11 year old girl. Then choices were made about coordinating colors for borders, backing and binding fabric … we chose purple. The quilt was completed a few days later.

Five days after her surgery, the quilt (as pictured here) was presented to her dad. He was very surprised and grateful. He shared with us the surgery had been difficult, and a hole larger than a thumb was repaired. She was released after only two days and was recovering “remarkably well” at home. He said “she enjoyed sewing, and purple was her favorite color”. He also shared they’d just finished painting her room purple a few weeks before the surgery. After he gave her the quilt, she sent an email saying “thank you so much”.

We are thankful God allows us to use our ministry to serve others and meet their needs.
